Aufgaben: We are hiring an Applied Bioinformatics Research Scientist to identify metabolic vulnerabilities in lung cancer for therapeutic targeting. Lung Cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors and immunotherapy have been shown to be effective in a subset of patients; however, the overall survival rate for this disease remains low, especially for metastatic disease. Moreover, small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients have a poor prognosis, and there especially exists a gap in knowledge in understanding SCLC and identifying effective therapeutic strategies. The goal of our research team is to understand the underlying biology of key drivers in lung cancer by identifying metabolic vulnerabilities that can ultimately be used as single agents or combined with immunotherapy to target lung cancer therapeutically. Aufgaben: The Wistar Institute has an opening for a motived candidate to join the Bin Tian lab as a Post-Doctoral Fellow to study regulation of mRNA processing and metabolism in cancer using computational and bioinformatic approaches. One area of our research is to examine how dysregulation of mRNA processing steps, especially the 3' end processing, impacts mRNA metabolism, such as subcellular localization and translation, and helps cancer cell survival and metastasis. A second area of our research is to examine therapeutic approaches that target vulnerabilities of cancer cells in mRNA processing and metabolism

Aufgaben: The focus of the project is to develop quantum computing algorithms for quantum scattering in atomic and molecular systems that are expected in a fusion energy system, and demonstrate the schemes in current quantum computers. Candidates with background in (1) quantum scattering theory and computation, particularly in atomic and molecular physics, and quantum chemistry; and/or (2) quantum computing, are preferred. Fusion energy science background is desirable but not required.
