Duties: The candidate will work in the research group in space physics focusing on particle precipitation. The group explores how energetic particle precipitation can affect the chemistry and dynamics of the neutral atmosphere in the polar region. Energetic electrons and protons, trapped in the Earth’s magnetic field, can collide with gases in the atmosphere. These collisions initiate several chemical reactions leading to the production of NOx and HOx gases, which in turn can reduce the ozone concentration
Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree or equivalent education in space physics or atmospheric physics or a related field; Documented good knowledge of and experience in one or more of these areas is a requirement: high latitudinal aeronomy (chemistry and/or dynamics); processes influencing energetic particle precipitation into the atmosphere; statistical methods for handling complex data

Duties: Manifold learning is a crucial concept in the fields of machine learning and pattern recognition, because it enables the discovery and representation of underlying structures and patterns in high-dimensional data. In real-world scenarios, datasets often exhibit intricate manifold structures and the pursuit of capturing these complex geometries within the data has proven to be a challenging task for many traditional manifold learning algorithms. While it may not always be possible to fully learn the underlying manifold, it is often possible to learn some characteristics of the manifolds. One such characteristic is the Reeb graph, a topological construct that reflects the change of level sets of a real-valued filter function on a manifold
Requirements: Applicants must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree machine learning or a related area; Applicants should have a genuine interest in AI, and the research proposal must be related to artificial intelligence

Duties: The subject area for the position is synthetic organic chemistry/medicinal chemistry. The aim of the project is to synthesize compounds with antimicrobial activity that can decompose under light into fragments that do not have antimicrobial activity. The project is a continuation of earlier work based on compounds containing our ethanolamine chemistry. Method development and chemical analysis will also be a central part of the project to, among other things, map photochemical degradation products. The person that will be hired will be involved in teaching duties at the department
Requirements: Applicants must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree within synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. PhD-students may apply if defence of the PhD-thesis is completed by September 1. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded; Experience from the use of modern analytical instrumentation, including running and interpretation of NMR-spectra (including two-dimensional NMR-techniques) is a requirement; Experience from multi step synthesis is an advantage

Duties: The work will primarily focus on synthesis and subsequent catalysis testing. Initially the focus will be on designing and synthesising coordination complexes and/or organometallic catalysts in combination with polyoxometalates. An important aspect will be the incorporation of suitable cations, including ionic liquids, for the development of solubility-controlled catalysts; The overall aim is to develop efficient catalysts for the production of sustainable polymers, where CO2 will be used as one of the raw materials
Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree or equivalent education in chemistry; Applicants must have a solid and documented background in either organometallic chemistry or hybrid polyoxometalates, with an emphasis on synthetic methods and the choice of experimental parameters. It is an advantage to have documented competency in both

Duties: This postdoctoral position is linked with a research effort aiming to apply cryptographic methods for studying the security aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Cryptographic approaches will be tested for attacks on AI and existing protection methods in cryptography will be applied for security of AI. The candidate will have the freedom to explore new related topics and drive the research in the direction of security of AI and cryptographic elements
Requirements: Applicants must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree within cryptography or AI; Applicants should have a genuine interest in AI, and the research proposal must be related to artificial intelligence

Duties: The PhD project will address different aspects of microbial ecology and evolution. In particular, working with laboratory experiments and computer simulations, the candidate will investigate mechanisms regulating biodiversity and food web functions. Possible research foci include virus-host interaction dynamics and co-evolution under different environmental conditions, as well as analyses of natural microbial communities and change in dominant taxa under varying conditions. RAS (resirculating aquaculture systems) facilities may be used. Central to the research project will be to address the role of life strategy trade-offs in structuring microbial communities. The candidate will be responsible to design and execute a research plan with support from supervisors and technical staff
Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree or equivalent education in biology or must have submitted his/her master's thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the master's degree has been awarded; Experience from or competence in molecular biology and microbiology is a requirement; Programming skills and experience with computational biology is a requirement
