We are interested in candidates in the broadly defined areas of petrology and high-temperature geochemistry with research interests including, but not limited to, the origin and evolution of Earth and terrestrial planets, the formation of igneous rocks, isotope systematics, geochronology, and/or solid-state metamorphic reactions. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential to initiate a strong externally funded research program that includes mentoring graduate students and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in their area of expertise. We are particularly interested in candidates with the potential to utilize and enhance existing geochemistry/geochronology facilities and engage in interdisciplinary research with groups in the department, college, and/or university. The Department of Geological Sciences ( https://geology.ufl.edu/ ) resides in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and includes faculty with a wide range of expertise in solid Earth and planetary processes. Available resources in the Department of Geological Sciences include state-of-the-art facilities including MC-ICP-MS, LA-ICP-MS, TIMS, noble gas and stable isotope mass spectrometers, experimental petrology apparatus, clean laboratory, SEM with SDD-EDS, XRD, XRF.
