Requirements: Educational degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field coupled with relevant experience. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of, and experience in: Linux and Unix systems; Scripting (eg., Bash/shell); Main protocols such as DNS, SMTP, HTTPS, NTP and others; Firewalls, WAF, load balancers, routers, and switches (Fortinet, Cisco, F5); Configuration management tools (eg. Ansible); Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
   
Text: 4 July 2022 APPLY 31-2022 APPLY 31-2022 Systems and Network Administrator Information and communication technologies (ICT) department The Systems and Network Administrator will be part of the ICT departments’ operations team. The team provides design, deployment and support for systems, services, and requirements on IIASA on-premises and cloud infrastructure. The operations team is also responsible for managing heterogeneous environments and generating metrics related to performance, capacity, availability, failure rates, etc., the role The Systems and Network Administrator is a hands-on technical role, responsible for performance analysis, proactive troubleshooting and capacity planning for the server, storage, and network platforms. main areas of responsibility Perform monitoring and maintenance of the overall environment, working with experienced team members. Configure and install various network and infrastructure devices and services. Perform network and infrastructure maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Ansible) Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) Storage and backup solutions (both cloud and on-premises, CIFS, NFS, S3) L2/L3 Network technologies and IPv4 and IPv6 networks (Spanning Tree, QOS, LACP) Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) Virtualization software (VMware, GNS3) Network security and monitoring tools (eg., checkMK, Nagios, Graylog) Network diagnostic and network analytics tools The following will be considered advantageous: Relevant certifications Experience with Solaris Operating Systems (including virtualization) and Oracle platforms Experience with search and analytics solutions is a plus (eg., ELK) Experience with Azure cloud Additional requirements: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Effective verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to handle multiple complex tasks in a dynamic environment A high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail Excellent spoken and written English; German language skills advantageous. appointment terms Candidates should be available to take up the position in September 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. We offer an initial fixed-term, full-time employment contract for one year, with the possibility for extension to an open-ended contract thereafter. Duties will be carried out at the IIASA premises in Laxenburg, near Vienna in Austria (up to 100 days home office working within Austria possible). This position is classified as a ''Professional" level post. We offer A minimum gross full-time (40 hours per week) annual salary of EUR 48,000.00 which is exempt from income tax in Austria. The advertised salary is: Negotiable, based on the qualifications, skills and experience of the selected individual. Subject to deductions for health insurance and/or social security. Not directly comparable with other employers in Austria, due to the unique legal status and privileges granted to IIASA. Subject to the principle of income aggregation (Progressionsvorbehalt in German). In addition Educational subsidies for children of school age enrolled in private schools in Austria.
