Position: Junior Research Scientist

Duties: The Biostatistics Unit of Swiss TPH invites applications for a Junior Research Scientist to contribute to different projects that involve compilation and analysis of georeferenced, health and environmental data. The successful applicant will work within a team that pursues research on Bayesian statistical methods and computation, applied in the areas of infectious disease and environmental epidemiology
Requirements: Master’s degree in statistics, biology, environmental sciences or a related field; Statistical modelling skills; Expertise in R programming; Excellent oral and written knowledge of English is paramount
   
Text: The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, services, and education and training at the local, national and international level. Over 850 people from more than 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions. The Biostatistics Unit of Swiss TPH invites applications for a Junior Research Scientist (100%) to contribute to different projects that involve compilation and analysis of georeferenced, health and environmental data. The successful applicant will work within a team that pursues research on Bayesian statistical methods and computation, applied in the areas of infectious disease and environmental epidemiology. The position is based in Basel, Switzerland. It is open immediately and it will be supported initially for 3 years. Required qualifications are: Master’s degree in statistics, biology, environmental sciences or a related field.
