acad.jobs is a technology company and provides a job board for thousands of job positions in academics and private industry (“Services”) to private, academic and enterprise users. acad.jobs operates several websites including www.acad.jobs, www.akad.jobs, www.math-jobs.com, www.tesla-jobs.com, www.turing-jobs.com and www.nobel-jobs.com.

We only collect personal information required to:

• fulfill the contract with our users,
• comply with applicable laws and regulations,
• protect our rights.

Any personal information used to monitor the usage of our Sites and improve our Services is anonymized and aggregated.

Information we collect

acad.jobs may collect the following information:

• User information: Users may provide information such as an email address, a name, a company name, a job title or similar in order to register for one of our Services.
• Billing information: For paying users, our payment service provider PostFinance AG and our Bank (UBS AG) may collect and store billing addresses and credit card information on our behalf. We may also store your billing details if you provide them to us for the purpose of billing on invoice.
• Usage information: To maintain and improve our Services we may collect usage statistics. This may include administrative and support communications with you.
• Browser data: We may collect a standard website visitor information supplied by your browser (e.g. your operating system, the browser you are using, IP addresses, language settings). This information is dependent of the type of the device, browser and the settings you are using.

acad.jobs does not seek to collect information that we consider to be sensitive, including but not limited to: details of past, present, or potential health status, medical conditions, or medical treatments; genetic information; family medical histories; financial account numbers or other financial account identifiers; political and religious beliefs and/or affiliations; interest in or use of adult products or services; and illegal activities. Regardless of the source of the information, if we learn that we have collected information that we consider to be sensitive, we take reasonable steps to promptly delete the information from our systems.

How do we use the collected information

acad.jobs uses the collected information to provide Services to users and continuously improve them. From time to time, acad.jobs may publicly release aggregated statistics, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our Sites. acad.jobs engages trusted third-parties that provide parts of Services on behalf of acad.jobs.

How do we protect personal information

acad.jobs discloses personal information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on acad.jobs’s behalf or to provide services available at acad.jobs’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Cookies and Google Analytics

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. acad.jobs may use technical cookies required to provide the Services to the users. acad.jobs visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using acad.jobs’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of acad.jobs’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

We use Google Analytics services on our Sites to evaluate visitors' use of our Sites. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard visitors' information in an anonymous format and generate aggregated reports. The information generated using cookies about your use of the website (including IP address) is transmitted to Google. acad.jobs will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personal information from any source associated with you, unless you explicitly submit that information and the corresponding request to our support team.

Besides the cases described above in this section, acad.jobs doesn’t use cookies for any further purposes.

Business transfers

If acad.jobs, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that acad.jobs goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. We process personal data only on servers located in Switzerland.

Information relating to Job Applicants

acad.jobs will collect and process information that you voluntarily communicate about you to acad.jobs for purposes related to a potential employment. Additionally, acad.jobs may collect publicly available information (e.g. your LinkedIn profile). You can request access, correction or deletion of job applicant information about you at any time using contact details below.

Information Relating to Children

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of thirteen. If we learn that we may have received information from someone under the age of thirteen, we will take reasonable measures to remove this information.

Do Not Track

At this time, there is no general agreement on how companies like us should interpret Do Not Track signals.
