Duties: The Life and Health CRO leads the second line involvement for BU’s Risk Appetite Framework and operates as a second line function with oversight of pricing, conducts independent scenario assessment to understand the impact of adverse events across BU activities and discusses mitigating actions proposed by the BU
Requirements: Master’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CERA, FRM, CFA) are a plus; Minimum 12-15 years of experience in risk management within the insurance or reinsurance industry, ideally with some of it in a L&H business role, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and engaging with executive stakeholders; Ability to connect risk insights with business strategy and influence decision-making at executive level; Deep knowledge of risk management disciplines including pricing, underwriting, capital, regulatory frameworks, and reinsurance; Maintains a strong, independent risk perspective while fostering a collaborative, solution-oriented approach. Demonstrates resilience and sound judgment under pressure and is not easily influenced by conflicting interests; Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams, with a focus on coaching, feedback, and succession planning; Excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, rating agencies, and senior executives; Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights; Skilled in leading strategic initiatives and applying project management best practices to ensure timely and impactful execution; Possesses a solid grasp of data analytics at a higher level, including the ability to interpret complex datasets, assess model outputs, and guide data-driven strategies in risk management contexts; Promotes a strong risk culture across the BU and embeds risk awareness into business processes and decision-making

The Life and Health CRO cultivates a vibrant life risk community across the risk organization to share knowledge around all life topics.nn## Responsibilitiesnn**Act as a Strategic Partner for Business**nn- BU Strategy: Leads the Risk management involvement in the BU strategynn- Risk identification and monitoring: Proactively supports risk identification and management in the BU and collaborates with BU ExCo to develop mitigation action plans (e.g., strategic and operational planning, reviewing key risks, assessing new product implementation).nn- Risk Appetite and group risk limits: Leads the design and implementation of the Risk Appetite and group risk limits for the BU.nn- Risk Analysis: Conducts scenario assessments to understand the impact of adverse events across BU activities and formulates mitigating actions.nn- Reinsurance & Capital Optimization: In strong collaboration with Risk Capital provides risk input into BU reinsurance strategy and capital optimization decisions, ensuring alignment with BU risk appetitenn**Lead Day-to-Day BU Risk Agenda**nn- Pricing: Oversees BU pricing through reviews, deep-dives, and critical challenges of parameters, focusing on second-line oversight.nn- Deal Review: Provides independent second line opinion on deals for risk management referrals and the group underwriting committee.nn- Underwriting Risk: Reviews adherence to the Underwriting Risk Policy and provides independent review and risk opinions on material business decisions.nn- Legal Entities: Oversees LE CROs to ensure regulatory compliance and governance, escalates key topics to the Group CRO, and bridges local mandates with strategic oversight.nn- Risk Analysis and Reporting: Defines and leads risk analyses and scenarios. Owns messaging and interpretation of analyses and risk results for key reports (e.g., Risk Dashboard, ORSA) and collaborates with the Risk Reporting team for timely, quality outputs.nn- Control Systems : Ensures that control systems are in place and function effectively.nn- Stakeholder Communication and Culture: Promotes a strong risk culture across the BU and communicates risk insights to internal stakeholders and external partiesnn**Identify Risk & Challenge Risk exposure**nn- Accumulation: Provides second-line oversight on biometric risk exposure accumulation across all businesses. Ensures appropriate monitoring, challenging, and offering risk opinions on operational limits.nn- Risks identification: Identifies forward-looking risks by spotting trends u2013 including emerging risks - anticipating business impacts, initiating discussions with BU ExCo, and recommending mitigation actions or process adaptations.nn**Community Leadership and Coordination**nn- Leads the BU Risk Management Community, fostering alignment across BU-specific risk topics.nn- Coordinates with the broader Risk Function and BU leadership through regular forums like CRO Leadership Team meetings and BU ExCo meetings.nn**Leadership**nn- Leads, recruits, develops and retains top talent within the BU Risk Management team, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, feedback, and career development.
