The Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Sciences has up to two fulltime vacancies: Full-time (100%) postdoctoral research scholarship (‘postdoctoraal bursaal’) in the field of Algebraic Geometry Position You will carry out high-quality academic research in algebraic geometry and/or related areas. The position is part of an FWO founded project entitled “New birational invariants and the geometry of moduli spaces”. You will report on the results of your research and produce academic publications. You will take part in the organisation of research events and activities. You will contribute to the development of the research group. There are no a priori teaching obligations with the position, yet the flexible expectation is that you help as a TA or instructor with one course per year (=2 hour/week one semester per year). You will have the opportunity (if you want) to teach your own course and/or supervise bachelor and master thesis. Profile You hold a PhD in Mathematics or equivalent by the time of the start of your appointment. You have relevant research expertise in Algebraic Geometry or related areas. Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies . A working proficiency in English is necessary. Proficiency in Dutch is not required. You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation. You are able to carry out your work and achieve your objectives with a high degree of independence. What we offer We offer an appointment as a postdoctoral scholarship holder for a period of three years . Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for a postdoctoral scholarship holder. You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting. The planned start date is flexible, but not sooner than 1 November 2024. You will do most of your work at Campus Middelheim in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
