Position: Researcher in the project "Swedish remembrance of the Holocaust&#034

Duties: The research is carried out within the framework of the project "Swedish remembrance of the Holocaust - museums, politics and materiality", which is funded by the Swedish Research Council. Principal Investigator for the project is Researcher Britta Geschwind. Central undertakings will be to study Holocaust-related collections and exhibitions at museums, as well as conducting archival studies and various forms of text and image analysis. You are expected to work independently, but also in close collaboration with the project manager, including co-writing an article. The research will be carried out at the workplace in Lund, but the work also includes journeys to various museum institutions to other parts of Sweden, when investigations are carried out there. The working hours are planned in consultation between you and the project manager

Description of the workplace The position is located at the Division of ABM, Digital Cultures and Publishing Studies , which is part of the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences. At the department, students can study a bachelor's program in Digital cultures and there is also a master's program in ABM. The project "Swedish remembrance of the Holocaust - museums, politics and materiality" is a project within the subject area of museology at ABM. At Lund University, the research subject museology is aimed at investigating and understanding the role that museums, cultural heritage and art institutions have historically and in the current ideological and political social climate. The research includes collections and cultural heritage, the construction and management of memory institutions such as museums, as well as digital cultural heritage, digital development, human rights, anti-semitism, and xenophobia. Qualifications A requirement is that you as a researcher are well versed in the subject area of Holocaust collections, collecting and memory culture, to quickly adapt to the work. Prior experience working with and analyzing Holocaust-related collections in Sweden, specifically the Ravensbrück collection at Lund University Library and Kulturen Lund, would be an added advantage. Methodological familiarity with materiality as well as gender analysis would be an advantage. Additionally, established networks within Holocaust and memory studies would be viewed as an asset. Requirements for employment are: PhD in history, museology or other discipline related to the subject area of the research project Experience in researching collections, collecting and memory culture linked to the Holocaust and its related events Knowledge and experience in working with and analyzing archives Able to communicate academic English fluently, both in speech and writing Experience in publishing scientific articles Ability and will to collaborate with other scholars, in writing academic papers and doing field work. Additional qualifications for the position are: Experience in publishing internationally Experience working with the Polish Source Institute's archives at UB in Lund and the Ravensbrück collection at Kulturen in Lund. Familiarity with perspectives on materiality and gender analysis Developed networks within Holocaust and memory studies Further information The employment is for a limited period with the extent of 80 percent, starting on 2024/06/01 or as agreed, and ending no later than 31/3/2025.
