Duties:	The research programme focuses on the relationship between metalinguistic reflection on the English language and reflection on translation. Theoretical reflection on translation cannot be separated from an adherence to a theory of what meaning is and how it is construed. By drawing on the theories developed within linguistic pragmatics and their recent development in cognitive pragmatics, the programme aims to investigate how these linguistic theories can be employed in the development of an original theoretical and methodological framework for the scientific study of and reflection on multimedia translation - understood as a complex event. The new framework is meant to facilitate the analysis and explanation of the construal of meaning and the way in which it emerges in the multimodal text

Poiché qualsiasi riflessione teorica sulla traduzione non può prescindere da una adesione a una visione del significato e di come esso viene concettualizzato, partendo dalle teorie sviluppate nell’ambito della pragmatica linguistica e dai recenti sviluppi della pragmatica cognitiva, il programma si pone l’obiettivo di indagare in che modo le suddette teorie linguistiche possano essere impiegate nello sviluppo di un quadro teorico originale, anche dal punto di vista metodologico, per lo studio e la riflessione scientifica sulla traduzione multimediale - intesa come evento complesso.
