Position: Research Associate in Robotics and Autonomous Systems

Duties: The Research Associate will support a new externally funded initiative in teaching and research in robotics and autonomous systems. The incumbent will undertake software engineering and systems administration duties as directed by the research team leader
Requirements: A degree in software engineering with a depth of subsequent relevant experience or, an engineering qualification with extensive relevant software experience and specialist expertise; Experience in programming with languages such as C/C++ or Python; Ability to conduct high quality teaching in a University environment and willingness to undertake teaching duties as required; Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team showing initiative and taking direction as appropriate to the situation; Experience with Linux and/or the robotic operating system will be highly regarded

Why Your Role Matters: The Research Associate will be embedded within the SET Trusted Autonomy research focus area and supported by academics already working on multi-robot sensing and coordination challenges. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the role will support a new externally funded initiative in teaching and research in robotics and autonomous systems. The incumbent will undertake software engineering and systems administration duties as directed by the research team leader. They will also be responsible for developing tutorials to assist students with learning about robotics and autonomous systems and how to use the SET robotic facilities. The incumbent will ideally have skills in programming and the development of code for embedded systems applications. The incumbent will also have the opportunity to conduct robotics and autonomous systems-based research which aligns with the project aims.
