Position: Associate Principal Bioinformatician
Institution: AstraZeneca
Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom
Duties: The role is based in our new ground-breaking Discovery Centre (DISC) located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This newly purpose-built building brings together the company’s research and development activity in a pioneering strategic R&D centre and global corporate headquarters. The building has been designed with open architecture reflecting AstraZeneca’s approach to research. Open laboratories and glass walls will enable new ways of working across teams, whilst a central courtyard will put science on full display. When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That’s why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we’re not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world
Requirements: Ph. D in bioinformatics or a related field; with relevant working experience; Experience in Illumina workflows, raw data analysis and NGS data integration and interpretation; Ability to apply data analysis methods efficiently to large data sets; Experience with programming scientific applications; Ability to explore novel bioinformatic approaches to improve sensitivity and specificity of NGS based workflows
