Position: Ph.D. position on phase-field damage modelling of rubber under cyclic loading in Luxembourg
Institution: University of Luxembourg
Location: Luxembourg City, Luxembourg
Duties: The ultimate goal of this project is to predict the fatigue life of elastomers when exposed to different temperature profiles. To this end, a phase-field damage model is to be formulated and implemented. Experimental data is to be collected to formulate the model and to identify its parameters. Because of the simulation times associated with fatigue life predictions under cyclic loading, a numerical procedure is to formulated and implemented to accelerate the simulations
Requirements: Only those who hold a master’s degree or will hold one in the near future will be considered. The candidate’s thesis project must have focused on the mechanics of materials and/or the computational mechanics of solids
