Position: Postdoctoral and PhD student positions in skeletal muscle plasticity
Institution: Universität Basel
Location: Basel, Switzerland
Duties: In an interdisciplinary project supported by a Sinergia grant of the Swiss National Science Foundation, we will investigate the molecular underpinnings of gene regulation in muscle plasticity. Thus, in close collaboration with the group of Prof. Sebastian Hiller, comprehensive analysis of RNA-binding, liquid-liquid phase separated condensate formation of transcriptional regulators, coupled to the elucidation of the corresponding structure-function aspects will be performed using various state-of-the-art technologies, spanning from molecular biology to animal (patho) physiology. We are therefore looking for a motivated and well-trained PhD and Postdoc to join the multidisciplinary team of postdocs and PhD students from the Handschin and Hiller groups performing these studies in close collaboration and constant exchange
Requirements: Postdoctoral applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD, PhD student applicants a MSc or equivalent degree. A strong background in molecular and cell biology is required. Experience in RNA-binding protein biology, liquid-liquid phase separation, NGS-based techniques and analysis (e.g. CLIP or ChIPseq), or proteomics of protein complexes and PTMs is ideal. Selection will furthermore be based on the educational background, motivation, independence and creativity of the applicant. Good knowledge of English is a requirement. The positions are funded and salaries according to institutional guidelines
