Position: Bioinformatics Software Engineer
Institution: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Duties: Integrate a wide variety of tested computational tools and pipelines into cloud environment; Actively participate in designing scalable, highly available, secure, cost-effective cloud-based solutions; Collaborate with bioinformaticians and engineers to containerize new or existing analysis pipelines and make pipelines portable on both on-prem high-performance computing and cloud environments; Design, implement, and maintain scalable pipeline workflows to automate multi-step computing tasks required for various data analysis scenarios; Develop and maintain the automated tests and monitoring process to ensure the successful pipeline execution and deployment; Assist product management for the documentation of the system requirements, design, and troubleshooting
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, MS preferred, in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; Demonstrated proficiency with Python, R, Perl and/or other languages; Experience with data analysis in cloud environment, especially Microsoft Azure; Proficient with Linux environment, shell scripting, and command line tools; Experience with software development and Agile process is a strong plus
