Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Informatics Specialist (Bioinformatics) for the Office of Research within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Informatics Specialist at Molecular and Genomics Informatics Core Facility is to execute workflows on high throughput genomics data including (but not limited to) WGS , RNA -seq, scRNA-seq, ATAC seq, and amplicon sequencing. This will entail being up to date on the best-in-class tools, as well as upcoming trends in the bioinformatics space. Candidates with a background in biology will be expected to interface with investigators regularly to align projects with their biological questions, whereas candidates with a background in computer sciences will be expected to perform pipeline development and optimizations. Over time or based on initial experience, candidates will be expected to perform both aspects. Familiarity with NGS data and various bioinformatics tools (alignment, assembly, variant calling etc.) Preferred Qualifications Record of NGS wet lab operations for Illumina and/or ONT , or record of computer science background. Basic project management skills. Experience with Proteomics/Metabolomics data sets. Experience with HPC settings and/or Cloud computing.
