The area of nanophotonics is booming internationally, and DTU Electro has a strong standing in the field. With this call, we wish to strengthen our activities further by establishing one or several professorships. Our focus is on exploring light-matter interaction in nanostructures, experimentally and theoretically, understanding the physics at play and using the insights gained to enable new and improved communication and information technology devices, sensors, and measurement equipment, as well as devices for emerging quantum technology. Education of students with a strong background in physics and modern photonics engineering as well as attracting research grants to pursue ambitious and high-risk goals are part of our DNA
