Position: Research Associate for SigCom - in the area of 5G/6G RAN stack optimization for satellite communications

Duties: Investigate 5G/5G+ architectures and algorithms for their integration into future satellite systems; Propose and elaborate new architectures and algorithms for future 6G systems integrating terrestrial and satellite systems; Optimization of PHY, MAC and above layers parameters for satellite systems via system and link-level simulations, for example: Signal predistortion algorithms; Pilot-free synchronization techniques; New user multiplexing techniques (ODDM, OTFS, ODWT); Precoding and beam management techniques; HARQ/ARQ optimization
Requirements: A PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/engineering with a focus on wireless communications; Experience in signal processing for wireless communications algorithm; Proven knowledge and awareness of the 3GPP 5G NR stack; Sound publication track record in relevant international conferences and top journals in the following research areas (at least one IEEE Transaction publication is mandatory); Strong programming skills in MATLAB. Others like Python/TensorFlow or C/C++ are a plus but not mandatory
