The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to possess good skill in atmospheric dynamics/modelling or good background in nonlinear dynamical systems. Knowledge and/or experience with numerical modeling such as the WRF /CM1 model is desirable. Indiana University runs a state-of-the-art computing center with a supercomputer Big Red II that possesses peak performance at the PetaFlops level as well as advanced data storage archive, providing a top-tier center for Earth system modeling and data analysis. As such, the Postdoctoral Associate will have opportunities to explore and conduct numerical experiments, using such a superb HPC infrastructure. S/he should be motivated and eager to communicate results at scientific meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals. The initial appointment for this position is 1 year, and can be extended to the second year upon successful performance and funding availability. Salary is commensurate with experiences. The expected start date is June 1, 2023, but is negotiable. The candidate will be jointly supervised by Dr. Chanh Kieu (Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences) and Dr. Wai-Tong Louis Fan (Department of Mathematics).
