The post holder will be working on a Innovate UK funded project on the research and development of a high efficiency hydrogen combustion engine. It will involve advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling studies of combustion chamber designs, hydrogen injection strategies, spark ignition strategies and combustion processes. The successful candidate will also be involved in setting up the hydrogen engine demonstrator, fuel supply and control systems, and verifying the CFD modelling and optimal engine control strategies for ultra-high efficiency and low emissions
Requirements:
The successful applicant should have a PhD degree in CFD modelling of spray and combustion processes in combustion engines. Applicants should have great knowledge on injection models and combustion models and have excellent experience in meshing, coding and model validations. Experience in engine experiments will be an advantage. Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification
