Position: Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist
Institution: Universität Basel
Location: Basel, Switzerland
Duties: Analyse genomics data including single cell RNA and ATAC sequencing; Create cell type atlases and leverage them to answer biological research questions; Support tissue engineering and therapeutic efforts by characterising intra/intercellular signalling pathways; Compare diseased or engineered cell types to their healthy normal equivalents; Organise sequencing data and maintain metadata information; Participate in the development of pipelines to automate commonly used workflows; Communicate clearly with biologists and bioinformaticians to identify objectives and convey results
Requirements: PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or a related quantitative discipline; Minimum 3 years' experience in next-generation sequencing data analysis, single cell experience preferred; Expertise in Python, competency in R, and fluency in Unix/Linux; Experience with workflow management (Snakemake) and high performance or cloud computing; In depth knowledge of common sequencing technologies; Experience deciphering or employing intra- or intercellular signalling pathways is desirable; Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
