Salary Information Department Summary The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research across a number of areas of physics such as materials physics, photonics, computational physics, high energy physics, atomic and nuclear physics, plasma physics, theoretical and quantum physics, and astrophysics. With approximately 20 research active faculty members, over 70 graduate students are mentored in research. Position Summary The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas ( UNT ) invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in astrophysics with a preference for extragalactic astrophysics. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023. We seek candidates with a demonstrated potential to successfully develop an independent, externally funded research program that will complement and strengthen current research in the department. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and encouraged to utilize the observational, computational, and educational facilities at UNT . A Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics, and postdoctoral research experience, is required; both observers and theorists will be considered for the position.
