The Chair will be expected to engage and integrate existing experts in clinical informatics, imaging informatics, data science, and bioinformatics across numerous disciplines, and to lead the development of novel programs in these and other areas in order to transform research, education, and patient care. Collaborators include, but are not limited to: the Institute for Data Science and Computing, the Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute, NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. The Chair will also have formal linkage with the University of Miami Health System and its informatics leadership and will be expected to foster the creation of a Learning Health System

Candidates should have at least five years of leadership experience at the departmental, institutional, and/or national level in organizations with programmatic relevance to this role as Chair of the Department of Health Informatics, e.g., national educational, medical or scientific organizations, professional societies, private/governmental advisory committees. A charismatic, dynamic, and skilled interpersonal communicator is desirable in order to integrate and cultivate the data environment at the University of Miami’s matrix organization
