Position: Postdoctoral Fellow - Atmospheric Science

Duties: Working with a faculty adviser, the postdoctoral fellow will conduct specialized research in one or more areas of Atmospheric Science, including atmospheric chemistry; climate and atmosphere-ocean dynamics; cloud microphysics, severe storms, and mesoscale meteorology; data assimilation, machine learning, and causal discovery; education and human resources; global biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems; and radiation and remote sensing. The research may range from theoretical to applied and involve the use of measurement and/or modeling approaches. This position will also summarize findings and publish research results in journals and present findings at scientific meetings and conferences
Requirements: A PhD in Atmospheric Science or a related field, including chemistry, physics, computer science, and engineering

We currently have twenty faculty members, ninety graduate students, over seventy full-time researchers and postdoctoral fellows, and an outstanding and dedicated support staff, that comprise one of the most research-active units at the university. The department conducts more than $14M in externally sponsored research each year and is nationally ranked near the top of its field. Position Summary Working with a faculty adviser, the postdoctoral fellow will conduct specialized research in one or more areas of Atmospheric Science , including atmospheric chemistry; climate and atmosphere-ocean dynamics; cloud microphysics, severe storms, and mesoscale meteorology; data assimilation, machine learning, and causal discovery; education and human resources; global biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems; and radiation and remote sensing. This position will also summarize findings and publish research results in journals and present findings at scientific meetings and conferences. The department accepts applications on an ongoing basis from individuals who are interested in obtaining postdoctoral fellow positions within the department. Annual terms and reappointment may depend on performance and/or the continued availability of funding. More job-specific information will be available as faculty members decide to hire a postdoctoral fellow from the open pool.
