All individuals hired will be expected to establish and/or maintain an on-site extramurally-funded and productive research program, be committed to teach and train a diverse student body and assume various administrative responsibilities within the department. Facilities and Research Partners The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is housed in a state-of-the-art building located within the confines of the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus. The Campus is situated in the heart of downtown Buffalo, where it is home to multiple, academic and private clinical and basic research institutions including Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, the University of Buffalo Clinical and Translational Research Center, Hauptman-Woodward Institute, Buffalo General Hospital, Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, and the Gates Vascular Institute. The building houses facilities for clinical training and basic research. The basic science departments (Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, Physiology and Biophysics, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, and Structural Biology) are located on the third, fourth and fifth floors. The centralization of the basic science departments within one building greatly facilitates strong collaborative interactions with scientists possessing a wide spectrum of interests and technical expertise.
