Position: Program Director and Assistant/Associate Professor of Orthotics and Prosthetics

Duties: The Department of Rehabilitative Sciences seeks an experienced faculty member to serve as the Program Director to develop and launch a Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics in May 2023. The position is a 12-month clinical or tenure-track appointment and is available to start as soon as the search process has ended. The Program Director reports to the Chair of the Department of Rehabilitative Sciences; The Department of Rehabilitative Sciences is a fast-growing, multidisciplinary department with over 30 tenured, tenure-track, clinical, and adjunct faculty and support staff offering a doctor of physical therapy, doctor of occupational therapy, undergraduate and graduate programs in nutrition and dietetics, a graduate certificate in sports nutrition, and a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitative health sciences. The department is located within the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, which includes numerous programs including speech and language pathology, audiology, social work, and allied health sciences. The College is part of the University’s Academic Health Sciences division, which also houses the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Public Health, and the College of Nursing. The program director will join a dynamic and growing department focused on interprofessional education and training; Click here to view the department’s website; The program director will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program. The successful candidate is also expected to participate as a full member of the faculty with all relevant duties, responsibilities, and benefits. Requirements: Be credentialed in the profession of Orthotics and Prosthetics through a certification program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies ( NCCA ) and be eligible for a professional license as is required by the state of Tennessee; Have a minimum of three (3) years of combined teaching, clinical, and administrative experience in a profession related to orthotics and prosthetics; Candidates considered for a tenure-track position must possess a terminal academic degree by the start date and demonstrate the potential for research productivity
