Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in Life Sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field) and a record of research excellence as demonstrated by high-quality publications in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Biochemistry, Metabolic Engineering, or related fields. Postdoctoral experience for this position is preferred. The ideal candidate will address fundamental questions in molecular and cellular biology using state-of-the-art molecular, biochemical, functional genomics, or metabolic engineering approaches. Those who use molecular and evolutionary approaches to study metabolic pathways, cellular signaling, and physiological mechanisms in the animal, plant, algal, or fungal systems are encouraged to apply. The position is expected to participate in and support ETSU’s interdisciplinary initiative in Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering through collaboration with faculty from academic units across the university. The position will also complement departmental strengths in evolutionary biology, ecology, genetics, and cell and molecular biology. The successful candidate is expected to build an innovative, nationally recognized, and externally-funded research program, as well as engage in quality undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring that supports diversity and inclusion. Candidates will be expected to teach courses in Cell and Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, and Biochemistry. The successful applicant will also assist in service activities in the department, university, and community. The position is subject to the availability of funds.
