The area of interest is the experimental particle physics research conducted at the Large Hadron Collider with the CMS experiment. UF has one of the largest US university groups in the CMS experiment, comprising several faculty members, students, postdocs, scientists, and engineers. The group currently leads projects and teams in the areas of physics analyses, detector and trigger upgrades, operations, computing, and software. Projects include measurements and searches involving the Higgs boson, a variety of new physics searches, muon detector, and trigger upgrades and operations, and a Tier-2 computing center. The new faculty member is expected to attract external research funding, enhance the group’s efforts, and develop innovative new projects. We seek scholars with significant evidence of a well-developed research trajectory, the ability to collaborate in small and large groups, and the ability to supervise and mentor students and postdoctoral researchers.
