Posting Details Position Information Job Title Assistant Professor - Biophysics Posting Number P0967F Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The Department of Physics at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, with a research focus in Biophysics. Biophysics is a research emphasis within the College of Sciences and Mathematics through a partnership between the departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Physics ( http://www.auburn.edu/cosam/clusters/biophysics/ ). The successful candidate is expected to establish an extramurally funded biophysics program while building collaborative relationships with the physics faculty, the biophysics cluster, and across the university. Applications from single-molecule biophysics researchers are desired. Research subspecialties within biophysics that are of interest include (but are not restricted to) nanoscale approaches to biology, single-molecule force spectroscopy, super-resolution microscopy, macromolecular machines and assemblies, mechanobiology, and medical related applications. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) demonstrate strong leadership potential in the area of biophysics, (2) play an active role in expanding and growing the biophysics research group in the department of physics, (3) supervise undergraduate, graduate students, and post-doctoral researchers in biophysics, and (4) provide excellent instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level in the physics curriculum. Active areas of research within the department include biophysics, atomic molecular and optical physics, condensed matter physics, plasma physics, space physics, and physics education.
