The institute concentrates its research currently on Structural Materials, Materials for Information Technology, Materials for Energy and High Temperature Applications, and novel Bulk Nanocrystalline Materials. ESI is pushing the fro ntiers in understanding microstructure â property relationships by combining advanced experimental and modelling techniques. The institute is offering a P OST D OC P OSITION ( F * M ) ( full - time, 4 0h per week ) in the framework of the FWF project â Live 3D imaging with sub - nanometer resolution â for a 2 - year term of employment . The aim of the project is to image dislocation movement and interaction in 3D during in - situ deformation in the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) . The successful candidate will be part of a n international team whose research activities focus on advanced nanocharacterization of complex materials . You will develop new ground - breaking 4D - STEM experiments , writ e scripts for microscope control and data analysis and perform in - situ deformation experiments in the TEM . You are expected to present your findings at international conferences and publish the results in top - rated international journals. Your profile ⢠PhD in Material s S ciences, Chemistry, Physics or equivalent. ⢠Extensive hands - on experience with transmission electron microscopy. ⢠The candidate is expected to write scripts for the a utomated a Therefore, interest in data analysis, scripting and machine learning is required. ⢠Excellent track - record demonstrating the ability to work independently and publish scientific findings. ⢠Very good communication skills in spoken and written English are mandatory. ⢠We are seeking independent, resp onsible and team - oriented candidates .
