Text: Job ID: RICAM130STUD222 The Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics ( RICAM ) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences ( OeAW ), Austriaâs leading non - university research and science institution in Applied Mathematics, focuses on basic research in applied mathematics, and within the Institute mathematicians from all around the glo be collaborate on common core areas in mathematical modeling, simulation, inverse problems and optimization. RICAM has proven to stand for excellence in research, as can be seen from a high level of publications and the popularity of the Institute's Special Semesters within the academic community. The working groups at RICAM provide a broad field of expertise over a whol e range of different subjects, and together they create an exciting atmosphere to carry out research in applied mathematics. The institute is offering 2 M ASTER â S S TUDENT P OSITIONS ( F * M ) in the areas of Image Analysis and Machine Learning with applications in Neuroradiology ( part - time, 20h per week) The positions, initially for 6 months each, are available starting from the winter semester 2022/2023. The prolongation for another 6 months is possible. These positions are supported by the consortium of the project S3AI (Security and Safety for Shared Ar tificial Intelligence by Deep Model Design, https://www.s3ai.at/ ), which is a fundamental research project funded by the Austrian Funding Agency FFG within the new program line COMET Module that aims to establish promis ing/emerging fields of research. The consortium includes SCCH (Linz/Hagenberg/Austria), RICAM (Linz/Austria), Research Institute for Symbolic Computation and Institute for Machine Learning at JKU (Linz/Austria), Pattern Recognition and Applications Lab of University of Cagliari (Italy), Dept. Elektrotechnik - ESAT/COSIC of the University of Leuven (Belgium). The selected candidates will be affiliated with RICAM and have working places at the Department of Radiology of the Medical University of Innsbruck that is a partner organization of the Consortium S3AI and provides the corresponding data and facilities for the development of algorithms.
