Requirements: The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of neuroscience and data analysis. Previous experience in in vivo calcium imaging and programming (Matlab/Python) is a plus. Text: PhD Position in Systems Neuroscience Research The laboratory of Andreas Lüthi at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) in Basel, Switzerland is looking for a PhD student as part of a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Ambizione project titled “Valence in decision-making”. The 4-year project focuses on investigating the role of neuronal circuits involved in valence assignment in a rodent model of decision-making. You will be working in close collaboration with the project lead and will be performing state-of-the-art systems neuroscience techniques including head-fixed in vivo two-photon calcium imaging, animal behavior training, optogenetic circuit interrogation, and data analysis. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of neuroscience and data analysis. Previous experience in in vivo calcium imaging and programming (Matlab/Python) is a plus. The project will be supervised by Ambizione fellow Mathias Mahn and Andreas Lüthi. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the FMI PhD or MD-PhD program, matriculated at the University of Basel, and compensated at the standard Swiss National Science Foundation rate.
