Johns Hopkins Biostatistics is the oldest department of its kind in the world and whose faculty and students deeply value the culture of collaborative and open research that has been integral to its success. U.S. News & World Report currently ranks the Department as co-#1 among biostatistics programs. The Department conducts research at the interface of biostatistical theory, methodology and practice, data science, and the sciences concerning the promotion of health, etiology of disease, and treatment of adverse conditions. It educates the next generation of biostatisticians, public health professionals, and scientists--at Johns Hopkins and, increasingly, throughout the world via open online platforms. Biostatistics faculty partner closely with investigators throughout the Bloomberg School and the University to fulfill the School's mission. The Department is home to 47 primarily-appointed faculty members, 48 PhD students, 42 masters students, 17 postdoctoral fellows, and approximately 20 staff. The Department is one of 10 academic departments at the Bloomberg School, which are together home to more than 870 full-time faculty and 3,600 graduate-level students. The School has been ranked the #1 school of public health by U.S. News & World Report since rankings began in 1994. The main campus of the School is located on the medical campus in East Baltimore. Both the East Baltimore campus and the broader University support a collaborative and highly interactive environment with a superb research infrastructure, including access to high performance computing environments and partnership with the University's precision medicine initiative.
