Duties: We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Research Assistant to play a key role in development of pan SARS-like betacoronavirus (sarbecovirus/bat coronavirus) vaccines. You will be based in the in the Townsend laboratory and will work with Professor Alain Townsend and Dr Jack Tan in the MRC Human Immunology Unit
Requirements: You will hold a degree in a relevant area of science with relevant laboratory experience. Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology are essential. You will also have excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills, with evidence of a methodical and careful approach laboratory work. Working closely with senior colleagues in the lab, you will involve in the pre-clinical development of the novel pan-sarbecovirus vaccines, including studying the immune responses post vaccination in vivo and involve in the analysis of human trial samples using immunoassays
   
Text: Research Assistant MRC Human Immunology Unit, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, JR Hospital, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DS We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Research Assistant to play a key role in development of pan SARS-like betacoronavirus (sarbecovirus/bat coronavirus) vaccines. You will be based in the in the Townsend laboratory and will work with Professor Alain Townsend and Dr Jack Tan in the MRC Human Immunology Unit. The Townsend Lab works on infectious diseases such as influenza and SARS-CoV-2, especially in vaccine development and also to understand the protective immune responses associated with the vaccines using animal models. We have recently formed a scientific consortium (funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Prepardness Innovations (CEPI)) (https://cepi.net/news_cepi/cepi-funds-consortium-led-by-cpi-to-advance-caltechs-new-all-in-one-coronavirus-vaccine/) with Caltech, UK Centre for Processing Innovations (CPI) and Ingenza Ltd. (Caltech-CPI-Oxford-Ingenza) to develop a novel pan-sarbecovirus vaccine for human use. You will hold a degree in a relevant area of science with relevant laboratory experience. Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology are essential. You will also have excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills, with evidence of a methodical and careful approach laboratory work. Working closely with senior colleagues in the lab, you will involve in the pre-clinical development of the novel pan-sarbecovirus vaccines, including studying the immune responses post vaccination in vivo and involve in the analysis of human trial samples using immunoassays.
