The employee will carry out research on acute and chronic kidney injury involving mouse models and human subjects. The research program has interest in diabetic kidney disease, ischemia/reperfusion-induced kidney injury, and neurodegenerative function. The overall goal is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which meprin metalloproteases modulate disease progression. The employee will report to the Principal Investigator, supporting projects through original research, collaboration with other team members, and mentoring of trainees. The employee will also contribute to additional grant proposal efforts, thereby strengthening North Carolina A&T State University’s ability to attract external funding. The employee will publish research results in recognized journals and present data at national and international conferences. This is a 12 month term-limited full time position funded by research grants.
