Position: Bioinformatics Scientist

Duties: We are seeking an energetic candidate with a strong background in the area of bioinformatics to design analysis plans, implement these plans, present results orally to investigators and publish findings as well as to provide guidance to research teams on analysis design. The candidate will work with a team of bioinformaticians and basic science researchers, including Research Scientists, postdoctoral scientists, and graduate students to design analysis plans, implement these plans, present results orally to investigators and publish findings as well as to provide guidance to research teams on analysis design. We are looking for a person with outstanding ability to communicate technical and information to both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements: A Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computation or related field is required and previous experience with analysis of high throughput data and large datasets from NGS platforms using established software is preferred. In addition, applicants will need to have familiarity with scripting languages (Python, R, or other languages) to create custom data analysis pipelines to mine public databases and test directed biological hypotheses with internal data. Applicants will be expected to have experience with relational database management systems and to integrate large volumes of data generated from multiple sources. Previous experience with Unix/Linux environment is required, high performance computing familiarity also desired. Algorithm development and some background in biology are also highly desired. Applicants must possess good communication and team skills and be fluent in both spoken and written English
