Position: Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d)

Duties: The position is part of a project on machine learning for the automated, robust classification of pig behaviour that will be conducted jointly with the working group Livestock Production Systems (Prof. Imke Traulsen). The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, evaluation and application of innovative data science and machine learning methodology where video and sensor data shall be analysed to produce individualized protocols of animal behaviour. Methodological foci will include image classification, object recognition, pose estimation, and tracking in image and video data. This requires familiarity with corresponding machine learning software as well as the willingness to closely collaborate with the applied partners from the working group in Livestock Production Systems
Requirements: Completed master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or other scientific fields with a specialisation in Data Science/Machine Learning/Computational Statistics; Knowledge on machine learning in general and computer vision, neural networks, object recognition, or segmentation in particular; Proficiency in English; Willingness to conduct collaborative work in a joint project on livestock management together with researchers from agricultural sciences
