The key function of this role is to analyse financial information and implement effective strategies to enhance overall business performance. Combining both accounting and management skills, the Management Accountant has overall accountability for preparing, developing, and applying findings from financial reports. Reporting into the Head of Finance, their responsibilities include maintaining financial policies and management information systems, alongside establishing effective communication channels to inform management on all aspects of company finance. This role will be office-based 3 days per week, with home-working 2 days per week (additional office days may be required ad hoc). Apply Now Starts 21/06/2022 Closes 01/08/2022 Contract Type Permanent Department Finance Group Location Hybrid Arrangement Reports To Head of Finance Direct Reports N/A Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly management accounts including balance reconciliations, variance analysis and commentaries Review each month’s invoices processed, month end journals, prepayments, accruals and revenue journals Prepare data for payroll Payroll and Pension administration, processing and analysis Assessment of monthly expenses and manage annual PSA returns and submission Review and authorisation of quarterly VAT Perform treasury duties including overseeing and authorising payments on online banking platforms Other Duties: Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process Manage capital expenditure Review company assets and liabilities Prepare and submit information to Office of National Statistics Assist in preparation for YE Audit process Ensure compliance with financial regulations Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations Production of relevant commercial analysis as required Lead on and support Finance Projects Carry out benefits administration and associated analysis as required Act as cover for other Finance team members within the wider group Other ad-hoc duties as required by Head of Finance and CFO Skills & Experience Essential Experience Required: Working towards or recent graduation of a professional qualification in accountancy (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) Thorough understanding of management information systems Proven experience as management accountant, accounting supervisor or similar role Solid knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles and practices Excellent knowledge of cost accounting and reporting Excellent knowledge or risk analysis, budgeting and forecasting Working knowledge of financial software and MS Office Strong Excel skills - especially using VLOOKUP, Sumif(s), Index Match, Pivot tables, Conditional Formatting, Named Ranges, Data Manipulation, Sum products. Desirable Experience: Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or similar field Experience using one or more of the following software packages: Reviso, Sage Payroll, Sage P11D Professional and People HR Essential Skills Required: Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial A solid commercial acumen Analytically minded Boldness: Comfortable in taking calculated or measured risks, in asserting your opinion and in constructively challenging the status quo Openminded - always open to the view of others and exploring new or alternative ways of working Ownership - focussed.
