Duties: The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences ( CAS ) at Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position for academic year 2022-23 with a specialty in Mathematics. This is a lecturer appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on performance and review. CAS/LUC provides opportunities for promotion based on demonstrated teaching excellence and service to the program, school, and university. The successful candidate will be joining a department of more than 35 full-time faculty members. for more information about the department, please visit its website at https: //www.luc.edu/math/; This search is part of a University-wide, multiyear hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding faculty members who are reflective of our diverse student body and committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines). of special interest are candidates who can further the University’s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion; Teaching responsibilities shall include a 4-4 teaching load (12 credit hours per semester). Teaching responsibilities will primarily be in the calculus and precalculus sequences, although will include some upper level teaching as well. Duties also include some service on departmental committees
Requirements: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field at the time of appointment. The successful candidate must have experience with (or strong potential for) teaching both lower and upper level classes and for student mentorship. Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially regarding socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Candidates must also be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic education
