Position: Joint postdoctoral position - Circuit dysfunction in Epilepsy using Human Cerebral Organoids

Duties: We are searching for a highly motivated PhD graduate to begin a joint postdoctoral research position between the Knoblich (IMBA) and Zimmer (UniVie) labs, both located in close proximity on the VBC campus. The focus would be to use cerebral organoid technology in combination with whole-organoid calcium-imaging based circuit neuroscience to investigate how epilepsy affects neuronal networks of human neurons
Requirements: The projects(s) arising from this unique and exciting opportunity would be interdisciplinary between high-end microscopy, computational network neuroscience and human stem cell-derived neurological/neurodevelopmental disease modeling. Therefore, a successful candidate should have a background in systems neuroscience with expertise in computational biology. Experience in cell culture, particularly working with human pluripotent stem cells, would be advantageous
