Our laboratory is based in the Division of Hematology & Oncology in the Department of Medicine at CUIMC and is also affiliated with the Center for Precision Cancer Medicine. The major goal of the laboratory is to use cutting-edge biochemical and proteomic methodologies to understand how mutant kinase proteins and modified kinase substrates modulate cancer cell signaling and drug response. We aim to validate our findings in patient samples and to translate our discoveries of new targets and biomarkers to prolong the lives of cancer patients. We are looking for candidates with expertise in either cell signaling, protein biochemistry, pharmacology, or proteomics to join our lab and lead an innovative and therapeutically consequential project. Specific projects include: 1. Deciphering PI3K oncoprotein mutations using deep mutational scanning, structural biology, and biochemistry (Vasan et al, Science 2019, PMID : 31699932) 2. Discovering the roles of non-canonical lipid kinases and lipid phosphatases in breast cancer 3. Characterizing new phosphoprotein drivers of tumor progression and therapy response across cancer types using functional phosphoproteomics (Vasan et al, Nature 2019, PMID : 31723286) If you would like to join our vibrant team, please apply with a cover letter detailing past research and interest in our lab, CV, and contact information with three references.
