Text: Job ID: VID066DIR122 The Austrian Academy of Sciences ( OeAW ) , Austriaâs central non - university research and science institution, seeks to appoint a new S CIENTIFIC D IRECTOR ( F * M ) at the Vienna Institute of Demography . The statutory mission of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) is to âpromote science in every aspectâ by operating a total number of 25 research institutes which are engaged in innovative research of international The Vienna Institute of Demography ( VID ; www.oeaw.ac.at/vid ) is one of the leading demographic research institutes in Europe. The research focus of VID concentrates on demography and human capital. The Institute combines innovative methodological work with empirical analysis and communication of scientifically based insights. It gives special attention to analysing and projecting dem ographic dynamics ( fertility, mortality , migration ) and the advancement of demographic methods to evaluate social and economic consequences of population ageing. VID collaborates with the International Institute for A pplied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the University of Vienna in the Wittgenstein Centre of Demography and Global Human Capital (WIC) . Close collaboration and joint office space exist with the recently established Department of Demography of the University of Vienna. The VID receives basic funding from the OeAW, and additional national and international third - party funding for designated research projects. The institute offers a world - class scientific and collaborative research environment for about 40 sc holars and is supported by ski lled in - house administrative and technical staff.
