The Statistics Group is particularly keen to appoint in the areas of: computational statistics; biostatistics and related areas; and applied Bayesian modelling
Requirements: The Statistics Group seeks candidates who have track records of outstanding, innovative research, and who are dedicated educators. Researchers within the Statistics Group have a wide span of interests. Research themes include Bayesian methodology for complex models; biostatistics; big data, scalability and computation; stochastic systems biology; and environmental statistics. We have many opportunities for statisticians to engage with researchers across a wide range of disciplines. We are a University Partner of the Alan Turing Institute (the national institute for data science) and have strong connections with the Newcastle-based National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD). We run an MSc in Statistical Data Science jointly with the School of Computing. Group members collaborate extensively with researchers from other disciplines within the University, including Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Computing, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences. We aim to achieve a diverse mix of colleagues that will enable us to: - bring new ideas and different perspectives to both teaching and research; - refresh our engagement with one another and challenge our thinking; and - provide more diverse role models, attracting a wider range of bright, active and engaged students. We aim to attract applicants who will actively contribute to all aspects of the School, and who will be enthusiastic and committed to new ventures and innovations in both teaching and research.
