Nyhart’s Defined Benefit team offers pension actuarial consulting services for private, government, church, and cash balance plans. Our actuaries use their technical, financial and administrative expertise to provide guidance in the design and maintenance of retirement plans. Our Defined Benefit team is looking for a Pension Actuary in San Diego. ***This position is 100% remote with a preference for candidates in the Pacific and Mountain time zones*** Prepare/review and ensure timely delivery of individual benefit calculations and statements Prepare and/or review client data including performance of gain/loss analysis and assumption review Prepare and/or review valuation reports and related required reporting for both PPA and Non-ERISA/Church/Government plans Assist with special projects, such as plan design studies, plan terminations, lump sum windows, multi-year projections, client conversions, and government forms Prepare for and participate in client meetings and presentations Consult with clients regarding benefit administration, pension regulations, and general retirement consulting topics Review analyst work; act as final technical review for client projects. Train and mentor actuarial analysts on technical work and client interaction Assist leadership with internal development as needed Analyze and improve internal processes and procedures to increase accuracy, consistency, and efficiency Stay up to date on marketplace, regulations and trends related to all types of Defined Benefit pension plans Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, or related field 5-10+ years pension-related consulting experience On track to earn EA/FSA designation, ASA required Proven client management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Superior analytical ability Strong presentation skills At Ascensus, we aspire to make a difference for others.
