Requirements: University degree in Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar; 5+ years of programming ideally in the capacity of a scientific software developer and have worked within similar deep tech companies; Ideally 2+ years of Technical Team Leadership/Project Leadership; Interest and understanding of the physics/quantum computing industry and its impact on HPC; Excited about emerging technology; Solid experience with implementing in C++, CUDA, MPI, OpenMP

We are working with global technology leaders to develop quantum computing applications, integrate quantum with high-performance computing, solve materials science challenges and develop ultra-precise semiconductor manufacturing and quantum control techniques. We are looking to hire a Senior HPC Engineer for our Quantum Software and Applications group who will be responsible for the integration of qbOS into HPC infrastructure. You will be a founding member of the new QB Germany team who establishes a high-performing culture and practices and has opportunities to lead a growing team or sub-team and assist with establishing technical partnerships and gaining local users and customers. The role can be located anywhere in Germany. Good German language skills are desired. Core responsibilities: Full software lifecycle: Using git version control (Gitlab, GitHub), merge request management, performing CI/CD pipeline and smoke tests, patch releases, and providing user support. Ensuring high test coverage. Agile workstyle: Closely following and leading agile workstyle principles, which include weekly sprints, team meetings, and Jira task management. Software Applications & Integration: Supporting the development of applications for quantum chemistry, optimization and quantum machine learning by integrating with and deploying on HPC infrastructure. HPC integration, software delivery: Working with HPC environments and tools, pre-configured containers for software delivery (docker, singularity). Programming: Responsible for advanced-level C++ and GPU programming. Continuous Learning: Monitoring the field of quantum computing for optimization and quantum machine learning. Client/Partner collaboration: Collaborate with Quantum Brilliance’s partners and clients in joint projects. Industry and topical knowledge: Providing assistance for business development. Documentation: Documenting software features and dev processes in fine detail. There are further exciting learnings in project management, team leadership, and business operations. Research leadership. As you complete projects and build your understanding of the company and its R&D programs, you will be increasingly expected to provide input to help shape roadmaps and targets for subsequent R&D projects. This can include pitching projects to follow-up on discoveries made during previous projects. Give back: you will have plenty of opportunities to share your knowledge within the team. This can include providing technical leadership and mentoring to other team members, doing projects with brilliant interns, and regular internal technical group meetings. Applying for grants. Depending on your role with QB and the funding/partnership opportunities, this might still be a thing. But there tends to be a much higher success rate, shorter timelines to funding outcomes, and it's no longer a live-or-die thing for your career.
