Position: Senior Bioinformatics Scientist (Cancer/Genetics/NGS/Diagnositcs)

Duties: Develop and investigate analytical bioinformatics pipelines to drive validation of WGS oncology clinical tests; Work with large data sets from current and new platforms to solve complex problems of analytical, computational, or integration-related challenges; Independently define and develop analytical approaches for future clinical use within an ISO 15189 medical testing laboratory; Provide and help to determine methods, prototypes, and code for implementation in internal tools and end-user applications
Requirements: You should hold a PhD or equivalent in Bioinformatics, computational biology or related field; An ideal candidate would have a strong background in cancer data analysis and have experience working with clinical cancer samples. Experience of variant interpretation would be an advantage; To be successful in the role you would require extensive experience in NGS bioinformatics, specifically in WGS; We are looking for expert knowledge of and proficiency with standard bioinformatics and analysis tools and packages; Advanced knowledge of Python and R languages

ILS is the interface where the latest Illumina technologies meet the patient and is now looking for an exceptional candidate to help to stretch the boundaries of cancer diagnostics. Why You ILS-UK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join the Bioinformatics Team. This detail orientated scientist will be responsible for validating various aspects of complex bioinformatic analysis of our clinical sample processing pipelines and developing standards for clinical NGS pipeline benchmarking. The role You will be working in a highly motivated multidisciplinary team to develop cancer diagnostics capability. Your day-to-day activities involve leading the bioinformatics scientific input for multiple development projects across the project lifecycle. This includes capturing user needs and requirements, designing and driving to completion verification and validation activities and documentation deliverables as required as part of our Quality Management System. This lead-analytical role will be expected to guide multidisciplinary groups to deliver software and laboratory solutions to support cutting-edge sequencing operations and data analysis that make a difference to peoples’ lives.
