Text: iSpot.tv, Inc. Careers Data Scientist Data United States Apply Description We are in the midst of an underlying shift in how people view video content. Television remains an incredibly powerful medium; for advertisers, it has an unparalleled ability to reach enormous audiences, (121 million American households) with a full screen, 30-second, high definition, surround-sound narrative. TV advertisements have the power to make people laugh, to tell a story, and to help them remember a brand. Nonetheless, TV advertising also has to demonstrate its value at an increasingly accurate level; it has to enable capturing the massive demand it generates across channels; it has to be responsive; and it has to be data-driven. The proliferation of ways to access TV content and the availability of detailed data, such as second-by-second smart TV viewing behavior, combine to make this an exciting opportunity to revolutionize measuring viewership and business outcomes in a $70 billion industry. Role Description At iSpot a data scientist is not only an important member of the science team but also an inclusive and proactive partner to both the engineering and product teams. A high degree of interaction between these three teams is paramount to our success. Candidates must have a deep understanding of data mining, predictive modeling, statistical methods, and model deployment. Data scientists are responsible for creating or improving detailed algorithms measuring the size and make up of an audience, accurately determining the effects of ads on a brand’s revenue stream, and optimizing a brand’s spend and placement planning. In summary, you are expected to make contributions to the innovation and design of descriptive and prescriptive solutions while maintaining a high level of communication across adjacent teams and serving as a mentor to other team members.
