Position: PhD position (Junior Scientist) - Phased PMUT Array for Intravascular Ultrasound Imaging (f/m/d)

Duties: The ​Piezo MEMS group specializes in applying microsystem and nanoengineering technologies to problems in acoustics and ultrasonics for medical, automotive, aerospace, and energy applications; Work in an industrial cooperation project to develop piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (PMUTs) for medical imaging and other emerging applications; Microfabrication of PMUT devices (may be involved in developing microfabrication process flow, optimizing the microfabrication recipes, preparing silicon wafers and piezoelectric thin films); Characterization of PMUT cells and arrays (including electrical, mechanical, acoustic, materials characterizations by tools such as the impedance analyzer, vibrometer, hydrophone, SEM); System integration and testing in cooperation with industrial partners; Sensor signal processing and medical imaging algorithm implementation; Literature reviews, grant applications, report writing, and technical presentations
Requirements: Master’s degree in the fields of electronics, mechanics, acoustics, and materials (not limited to these fields if you are a quick learner); Basic knowledge of MEMS, microfabrication, acoustic testing, ultrasonic imaging, piezoelectric materials; High degree of hands-on ability and proven experimental skills; Having experience, or desire to learn microfabrication and characterization of MEMS devices and being excited by the prospect of working with a range of industrial and academic partners; Excellent command of both written and spoken English; Candidates with project experience or publication in the related fields are preferred

We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications. For this position, your monthly salary starts with EUR 3.177 , paid 14 times a year.
