Job Summary The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences to begin in August 2022. The successful candidate is expected to be committed to high quality undergraduate and graduate teaching and to develop a research program that engages with the doctoral program in Computational Science with emphasis on mathematics. Applications are encouraged from candidates in traditional areas of Computational Science/Applied Mathematics as well as candidates with expertise in Data Science. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Establish an active research program that involves students at the graduate and/or undergraduate level. Teach courses in the mathematics and computational science curriculum. Develop curriculum as needed at the undergraduate or graduate level. Perform service commensurate with expectations of all faculty. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in Mathematics or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics. Ability to engage in effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or to have an approved legal exemption and/or accommodation on file with Human Resources prior to your anticipated start date.
