Position: Director, Pricing

Duties: Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of pricing terms and product development solutions to clients involving high technical standards of experience analyses and the production of high-quality pricing papers. Upon treaty win, support Corporate Actuarial in the smooth, timely implementation of treaties for Valuation purposes; Support the team in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and promoting the Pacific Life Brand, leveraging technical knowledge for the benefit of our clients through client meetings, active participation in industry bodies and Asian Actuarial bodies, published research and presentations at conferences and seminars; Responsible for the ongoing review of allocated open to new business protection treaties. The role holder will also have an awareness of the performance of all current accounts for your allocated countries within Asia; Participate in the development and maintenance of the Branch’s pricing bases, pricing tools and methodologies. Ensure they are technically sound, and their development and operation follows appropriate controls; Take on duties or projects as assigned. These can include being the pricing team lead for cross-functional projects or participating in projects within the Actuarial functions of Pricing, Corporate Actuarial, Research & Development; Responsible for managing, coaching and developing all direct reports to achieve team and company goals and individual performance standards
Requirements: Qualified Actuary with relevant pricing experience; Reinsurance pricing experience would be an advantage; Deep knowledge of mortality and morbidity risks, distribution and products; Strong knowledge and understanding of risk frameworks and controls; Experienced at actuarial modelling/reporting on capital, under a risk-based regime and/or understanding the key drivers of capital requirements/usage; Ability to communicate with business customers at all levels across the business with fluency in English; Ability to read/write Mandarin is advantageous to be able to liaise with clients effectively, and read documents in Mandarin as required; Direct or indirect Asian market experience and knowledge in areas such as culture, legislation, regulations and commercial practices

As a credible technical expert, you will demonstrate your teamwork and collaborative skills working alongside our Underwriting and Marketing teams to deliver creative pricing solutions to our clients. There will be a need to have occasional direct client/broker contact, especially with the actuarial and pricing teams at new and existing clients. The role will therefore require occasional regional travel. Reporting to the Head of Pricing, the successful candidate will have line management responsibility for the training and development of other actuarial staff ensuring that your extensive knowledge and expertise are shared creating a dynamic, innovative and influential environment.
